GET INTO THIS!: COLLISION on PBS

OMG! I had to share this with you all. Peaches put me up on game with this series and I am watching it as I type this. COLLISION is a 5 part mini series about a group of strangers whose lives intertwine following a devastating car crash. This mystery not only shows you how their lives are effected by the accident, but recaps moments from their past that may change the final outlook of the story. Okay, okay I know!…. it sounds very familiar. It makes me think of Crash(movie), Babel(movie), and Lost(tv show) all thrown together with an English accent. Let me tell you that it has already got me hooked and I’m not halfway through this first episode. I definitely needed this since Lost won’t be on until next year, so check up on it and let me know what you think. It just aired this month on Masterpiece Contemporary and the first episode is online here: Episode 1. Enjoy!

Sins of the Father, Burden of the Daughter!

Yes I am up this late, but it is because of PBS (I told you I am a PBS whore!) and POV movie called "Inheritance". In case you haven't seen or watched the trailer above, its about a women who grew up with the image of her father as a hero who died in WWII. But the truth is he was a blood hungry Nazi General who killed thousands and made one Jewish girl life a living hell. The documentary follows Nazi General Amon Goeth's daughter as she discovers the truth of her father and visits the concentration camp and his former home with the women who once lived in fear as his servant. It is a powerful movie and the tears were flowing like waterfalls. You think you know everything about the Holocaust, but until you see it through the eyes of someone who father was a major player and how the affects and nightmares didn't end with D-Day. I beg everyone to check their listings @ PBS and see when this comes on and watch it.

The Choice!

Okay I may have said before that I would not post anymore political posts to value everyones give rights. But I must post this video to give you the right to be educated on your choice especially since early voting starts tomorrow here in Florida. Those who don't know, I am a PBS fanatic and no show beats Frontline when it comes to giving you the full story in a balance and in depth way that tells the whole truth without agenda. So a couple of nights ago they aired "The Choice 2008", which was the finale of their series on the lives of the past few Presidents. Everything you think you know about both Obama and McCain or things you never knew is explained and broken down it this program. This should be watched by every American before they vote and even if they don't. So I am sharing this video(and yes it is 2 hours, same amount of time to watch the premiere episode of America's Next To Model, so I know you can do it) in hopes that every one who votes or even mutters a word of either candidate, has the whole truth and nothing but the truth and that you understood why you will vote for them and not because someone told you to.

What A Hot...Mind!

Yes I am a PBS Queen, but why shouldn't I, if you don't know whats around you then you don't know where you're going. Not only did PBS introduce me to Seseame Street, Doctor Who, Degrassi, British Comedy, and what it is to be different sexually and how its fine. It also introduced me to some moving and beautiful stories of people miles away and next door that lets you realize either how good you have it or how your life sucks. One of my goals for this blog is to not only share me and Skittles view of the world, but to help expand your mind so you can understand where we come from. Well today I watched a film that made me pissed, excitied, proud, sad, happy, and disappointed. Its called AfroPoP: Being Pavarotti and the story is about a group of South African boys who got introduced to Opera and sing it like pros in the streets, but the town police literally arrest them and beat them because few of the white tourist of the town complained. Its a powerful story and it makes me think where is the American black kids singing Opera. I work with young kids everyday and all they want to sing is T Pain or Lil Wayne and even if I encourage them to learn something new and better, their parents (some no older than the children!) think it soo cute to hear their 8 year old singing Lollipop. These kids in South African can sing anything, but they choose Opera and their family supports them, even if it means they will be arrested. So I encourage everyone, instead of watching another person on youtube dropping it like its hot to some souljia boy, click on the picture above and take a hour and expand your mind and your understanding of the world.

I saw this beautiful and powerful video at the right time. I had just watched one of the most moving PBS Wide Angle Story about women surgeons in Mozambique. If you haven't watched PBS story, then you need to start with this. Take moment from all the fake ad news and websites and expand your view on the world.
